This month, we're taking a leap back in time to the rad 1980s, a decade known for its neon fashion, iconic music, and cultural shifts. Prepare to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of this transformative decade by picking up a book that captures its essence. As an added bonus, each completed book allows you to enter a prize drawing for a chance to win a Book Lovers Gift Bag, brimming with goodies to enhance your reading experience.
Banned Books Week is an annual event that usually takes place during the last week of September. However, this year, we're excited to announce that it will run from October 1st to 7th. It is a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of free and open access to information, a time to reflect on the challenges to intellectual freedom, and a chance to stand in solidarity with those who champion the right to read diverse and sometimes controversial ideas.
The North Little Rock Public Library System is "whale-y" excited to present programs of epic proportions. In the month of September, we will be exploring all things whale! There are so many opportunities to dive into learning and to introduce and foster a love of life science and eco conservation. Kids, adults, teens, and everyone in between—there's something for all ages.
NLRPLS and CALS are working together to celebrate Library Card Signup Month in a big way. We are asking local businesses to participate by helping add more value to an already valuable card (a library card). During the month of September, anyone who comes into participating businesses and presents their library card (either from CALS or NLRPLS) will receive a discount or special deal.
As the school bells ring and students stream back into classrooms, and teachers put the finishing touches on their lesson plans, there’s an air of excitement that fills the corridors.
Since 1987, September has marked Library Card Sign-up Month.
