
Celebrate Day of the Dead with the North Little Rock Public Library System
The North Little Rock Public Library System invites the community to a vibrant lineup of free Day of the Dead events in North Little Rock this September and October. All events are held at the Innovation Hub unless otherwise noted. From creative workshops to family-friendly activities, our bilingual programs celebrate Mexican culture and traditions while offering fun for all ages. Whether you’re making paper flowers, carving linocut blocks, or enjoying festive movies, there’s something for everyone! Help us make Day of the Dead decorations! Each class will lead to objects for our collaborative community altar which will be on display at the Hub.

Upcoming Free Day of the Dead Events
September 2 – Cricut Flower Making (Argenta Library with Leticia) | 2:00–4:00 PM
Learn the basics of Cricut Design Space and craft beautiful paper flowers. Perfect for beginners and a fun way to kick off our Dia de los Muertos celebrations. No registration required.
September 18 – Flower Garland Assembly / Papel Picado | 5:30–7:30 PM
Collaborate with the community to assemble colorful flower garlands and create traditional papel picado banners using tissue paper. Register for free at the link above.
September 20 – Loteria Day | 12:00–1:30 PM
Bring the whole family for a day of this classic Mexican card game, with Latinx music in the background. The final round winner receives a unique handmade prize! No registration required.
September 23 – Movie Night: Selena | 5:30–7:30 PM
Enjoy a free screening of the beloved film Selena with complimentary popcorn. A perfect evening for fans of music and culture. No registration required.
September 30 – Linocut Block Carving | 5:30–7:30 PM
Learn the art of linocut block printing on fabric and paper. Fabric squares created will become part of a special quilt for our Day of the Dead celebration. Register for free at the link above.
October 9 – Cardboard Retablos | 5:30–7:30 PM
Make your own mini commemorative altar for a lost loved one while learning about the history and symbolism of Dia de los Muertos altars. Share your creations for display in our communal altar. Register for free at the link above.
October 16 – Paper Mache Catrina / Piñatas | 5:30–7:30 PM
Participate in building and decorating a Catrina and traditional piñatas. Learn paper mache techniques while contributing to our festive community displays. Sign up at the link above.
October 18 – Crepe and Coffee Filter Flower Making | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Help craft flowers needed for our November 1st celebration. Learn to make flowers from coffee filters, crepe paper, and tissue paper, and create papel picado decorations. Free registration at the link above.
October 21 – Linocut Block Carving | 5:30–7:30 PM
Learn the art of linocut block printing on fabric and paper. Fabric squares will become part of our communal quilt for the Day of the Dead event. Register today at the link above.
October 28 – Movie Night: Coco | 5:30–7:30 PM
Celebrate this animated favorite with free popcorn. Attendees can bring photos, flowers, or small mementos to contribute to the communal altar. No registration required.
October 30 – Loteria Night | 5:30–7:30 PM
A family-friendly card game night with Latinx music and a chance to win handmade prizes in the final round. No registration required.
November 1 – Dia de los Muertos Celebration | 1:00–4:00 PM
Join us for a full day of cultural activities, including:
