Crystal Clear: Closed for Technical Upgrades

A message from Executive Director, Crystal Gates

Hello, North Little Rock!

Your North Little Rock Public Library System will be temporarily closing both library locations from May 30 to June 3 to update our network infrastructure. During this time, we’ll be replacing our switches and installing new computers and technology throughout the system. We’re grateful to the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust for their generous grant of $33,946, which enables us to update all public computers and provide Chromebooks for our new Mobile Library, arriving soon.

Computers are essential nowadays, and we appreciate the Sturgis Foundation’s support. They’ve helped us before, supplying new computers for our Children’s Department and Teen Center a few years ago.

Please note that during the closure, our Wi-Fi will also be down, but don’t worry! You can still access our digital services through NLRlibrary.org/ and our various apps including Libby, Hoopla, Freegal, and Kanopy, so you can still enjoy your favorite books, music, and movies.

We’ll be taking advantage of this downtime to offer staff-wide training so that we can come back better than ever.

We’ll reopen on June 5, just in time for our All Together Now Summer Reading Challenge, which features prizes and programs for all ages from June 5 to July 28. You can register to participate at either library or NLRlibrary.org beginning on May 15.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this temporary closure. We can’t wait to see you all on June 5 for some exciting new updates and a fun-filled summer of reading!
