Join us this February at North Little Rock Library for a celebration of Black History Month! We've lined up a variety of events for all ages – talks, movies, and more. Come be a part of the festivities as we honor and appreciate the contributions of African Americans throughout history.
For Adults:
Black History Trivia Hour - February 8 at 5 PM at Laman Library
Show us how much you know about Black sports, history, TV shows, and Cartoons. Have a snack, win prizes, and learn some cool Black History Trivia.
Segregation in Arkansas: Black History Month Panel – February 15 at 4 PM at Argenta Library
Segregation and desegregation in Arkansas cannot be understood using the same model that has defined these matters in other Southern states. Throughout the state, the pace at which segregation occurred varied. How Jim Crow laws were manifested in Arkansas differed and was dependent largely on the state's area. Join Argenta Library for a discussion by four well-known community leaders and authors on growing up in segregation.

Black Excellence Tween Activity Pack - All day on February 2 at Laman Library
Learn about important black figures throughout history and color their portrait. At the end, you'll have your own set of Black Excellence Bookmarks.
Kids‘ Black History Trivia - Fridays in February from 3 - 5 PM at Argenta Library
This experience is for families looking to celebrate and learn more about Black history & culture while capturing the fun of playing trivia. Brain snacks will be served.
Mosaic Templars: Minor to Major - February 15 at 4 PM at Laman Library
Students will see, hear, and touch a variety of instruments and will work together to play (and conduct!) music. Presented by the Mosaic Templars, this hands-on program focuses on two of Arkansas’s most famous musicians: William Grant Still and Scott Joplin.
Black History Stories: Book Chat - February 22 at 4 PM at Laman Library
Come check out a selection of books about amazing people from all fields to celebrate Black History Month! Have a snack and chat about this month’s books.

Learn about the history and culture of African Americans through exhibits, collections, and crafts in Youth Services at Argenta Library during the month of February.
Black History Month Puzzles
Come put together one - or all five! - puzzles made exclusively for Laman Library. Each puzzle features art from famous contemporary Black Artists. Every recreation will feature facts about the art and artist.
