Blossom at Your Library

Get ready to dig into the vibrant world of Spring at the North Little Rock Public Library System (NLRPLS)! We're thrilled to share a few of our Spring and gardening events, where you can blossom at your library all through March. Find our full calendar of events here.

From green thumbs to those just starting to sprout their interest in gardening, we've got a little something for everyone. Join us for a bloomin' good time as we cultivate knowledge, share gardening tips, and celebrate the beauty of spring right here at NLRPLS. Mark your calendars, because this month, your library is not just a place to read – it's a garden of endless possibilities!

For All Ages:

    • Discover a day filled with vibrant blooms, gardening workshops, and family-friendly activities.

    • Take home a new plant for your family! Paint a pot, learn about plant care, make your own custom plant stakes, and become a certified green thumb! Small plant, soil, and pot provided!

For Adults:

    • As part of our Gardening and Farming series in March and April, Argenta Library is hosting this workshop on making a DIY greenhouse for your windowsill. This is eco-friendly and great for apartments.

    • Spend a cozy afternoon with a craft project, a movie, and some hot cocoa! This month we will be painting rocks to decorate your garden and watching the movie The Secret Garden. Bring your kids and let them watch the movie and work on a coloring page while you do the craft project.

    • Join us in making plant stakes to go along with your newly adopted plant. Guests will use paint, stickers, and more to create uniquely designed stakes to represent their new plant friends.  These will help with directions and information about the plants.

For Tweens and Teens:

    • Learn how to draw and paint plants in watercolor with Drienne!

    • See you in the plaza outside Laman for the First Day of Spring with this artistic take on a scavenger hunt! Can you believe the sun is finally staying out past 5? Neither can we! To celebrate, we're meeting up in the plaza outside Laman with our pencils, sketchbooks, and an eye ready for finding the first hints of Spring.

For Kids:

  • Tiny Chef - Tuesdays, 11 AM at Argenta

    • Cooking with kids is a fun and educational activity that can boost their confidence, creativity, and skills in the kitchen. Introduce your child to some hands-on cooking fundamentals.

  • STEAM Explorers: Botany - Tuesdays, 1 PM at Laman

    • In March, our STEAM Explorers will become botanists as they explore plant life and care.

    • Happy Spring! In celebration of Spring, we are going to have a Tea Party with the Bunny! Punch for children. Tea for Parents. Snacks for all. This is a great opportunity to take photographs of your little one with the Bunny while eating snacks and talking with friends.
