Free Solar Eclipse Glasses at NLRPLS

The North Little Rock Public Library System (NLRPLS) is gearing up for the much-anticipated 2024 Total Eclipse on April 8 by offering free solar eclipse glasses to the public. Thanks to the Arkansas State Library's generous donation of 22,400 pairs, residents can safely witness this celestial marvel.

This collaborative effort extends statewide, with the Arkansas State Library supplying eclipse glasses to all public libraries. The initiative aims to enhance public engagement and ensure safe viewing of this awe-inspiring event.

Starting March, residents can visit any NLRPLS location to claim one free pair of eclipse glasses per immediate family member, available while supplies last. Conveniently, the library has three locations:

  1. William F. Laman Public Library - 2801 Orange Street, North Little Rock
  2. Argenta Public Library - 420 Main Street, North Little Rock
  3. The Rover (Mobile Library) - Various neighborhood stops (check the calendar for details)

Crystal Gates, Executive Director at NLR Public Library System, expressed gratitude for the Arkansas State Library's donation, stating, "We are thrilled to offer free eclipse glasses to our community for this spectacular event."

To further prepare for the solar eclipse, NLRPLS is hosting two free family events:
