Earth Day, a time to honor and appreciate the planet we call home, is swiftly approaching, and the North Little Rock Public Library System is gearing up for a series of exciting events to mark the occasion. From urban farming adventures to eco-friendly crafts, there is something for everyone to enjoy on April 22 at your local library locations.
Kicking off the day's festivities are the "Adventures in Urban Farming" sessions at Argenta Library. Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on activities aimed at promoting sustainability and biodiversity. At these stations, guests can craft their own pollinator seed bombs and bird feeders, perfect for attracting local wildlife to gardens and green spaces. And that's not all - attendees will also be able take home their very own seedling, ready to be planted and nurtured in their own gardens. It's a chance to connect with nature and learn how even small actions can make a big impact on our environment.
For the younger members of the community, the Argenta Library is hosting a special lineup of activities designed to spark creativity and curiosity about the natural world. From storytelling sessions to hands-on planting and crafting, there's plenty to keep little ones engaged and entertained. Starting with "Baby Time Earth Day stories" at 10:30 AM, even the tiniest tots can join in the Earth Day fun. Later in the afternoon, at 4 PM, older kids can unleash their artistic talents with flowerpot designing and plantings. It's a day of learning, laughter, and green-fingered fun that's not to be missed!
As the day ends, the Laman Library invites visitors of all ages to get crafty with a special workshop on seed paper making. Discover the magic of recycling scraps into beautiful handmade paper that, when planted, will bloom into vibrant wildflowers. It's a creative and eco-friendly way to celebrate Earth Day while learning about sustainable practices that benefit both people and the planet.
With these Earth Day events, the North Little Rock Public Library System is proud to foster a sense of environmental stewardship and community engagement. So mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and join us on April 22n for a day of celebration, education, and appreciation for the world around us. Together, we can make everyday Earth Day!
