Mental Health May at NLRPLS

Celebrate Mental Health May with your North Little Rock Public Library System! Join our Self Care Family Night at Laman Library on May 16, starting at 4:30 PM. Enjoy self-care activities for all ages, including Tai Chi, affirmation card making, journaling, and more for adults; guided meditation for teens; DIY sensory tools for Laman Kids; and a pet portrait class (registration required) at The Studio. Plus, indulge in Zumba and Belly Dancing.  

On May 20, Argenta hosts "A Day of Wellness" with guided meditation, morning and afternoon yoga, Mala Bead workshop, DIY Coffee Scrubs class, and a Sound Bath.  

Throughout May, Laman Kids welcomes Pet Partners: Therapy Pets visits on May 14, 15, and 21 at 4 PM. Join us in prioritizing your well-being this May!

    • Neurofeedback for Mental Health:  Is It for Me?- Raysha Clark, LPC and Board Certified Neurotherapist will give an overview of what neurofeedback is and what mental health symptoms and conditions can benefit from the therapeutic technique, and Q&A. Learn how it could help you sleep better, feel safer, calmer, happier, and more present in your day-to-day life. Neurofeedback is great for those looking for a holistic, non-medication approach to reducing symptoms of brain-based conditions like ADHD, PTSD, ASD, insomnia, poor stress response, depression, anxiety, mood fluctuations, chronic pain, and fatigue.

    • Finding Calm in the Chaos - Dr. Rhonda Mattox will share with us advice on finding calm in the chaos from her extensive career as a psychiatrist and Hollywood consultant.

    • Stories About Emotions: Presented by Arkansas Learning Through the Arts - Artist in Residence, Lanie Carlson, connects reading, theater, and social emotional learning in this engaging performance. This performance will be best enjoyed by students preschool aged and above. Lane Carlson is an artist in residence through Arkansas Learning Through the Arts, and Laman Library is proud to be a partner.
